Riroan Fisherman

Riroan Fisherman

The route to Miligabiga is an interesting study of colors, texture and of course the inhabitants living along the coastal villages. My favorite is this fisherman (photos)  from Riroan, a sitio of Barangay Mabuhay of Bulusan with his catch for the day. The clear sea waters is transparent enough to highlight the greyish sand of Riroan – a beach that is in itself a beauty in the dominant shades of grey to black.

  1. The image of the man with his back to the water resembles more a sentinel guarding his domain. Next, he seems to pick up unwanted debris. Indeed, a man ‘of’ the fish, a creature ‘with’ the sea.

    • Very appropriate translation. Indeed, the fishermen of the coastal villages are the true stewards of the sea.

The time that I was at the site, the fisherman was cleaning the ‘turos’ with sea water for sun drying which I will post next.
